Art in the Rain

There are times when art and life are so intertwined that they seem to follow each other around from morning to night. On a rainy day late last fall, I was wandering the coast and came across striking expression of landscape art on a beach in southern Maine. What did it take to create this piece? An idea, a rake, the artist’s presence on the sandy beach in the rain? What it took was the practice of making art. The simplicity of the image made me think about how powerful art can be— especially when it speaks to an audience of one… in the rain.
