Kindness

If we are lucky, KINDNESS has at some point dropped like a golden leaf from a tree limb when we really needed it, and maybe it is something we practice when we are feeling steady, strong or secure. What a powerful and underutilized gesture it can be—-to give, as well as receive. Whether it is in the form of a hug, a conciliatory response, encouragement, a compliment, a needed resource, food, money—-our own company or time; There are so many ways to make it real, and consider its weight, appropriateness, and the potential receptiveness of the receiver.

While kindness is a language that is immediately understood by both the giver and receiver, it is often not recognized for the power it holds…until perhaps we find ourselves teetering between fear and worry and are the recipient of some form of kindness by another person. It is only then that we may examine what role kindness plays in our everyday life and recognize that it is a Super Power. There is so much written about gratitude these days, but for me the subject of kindness comes with much more clarity and provides unlimited opportunities to engage (both as the giver and receiver) in an effort to further personal growth.
